01 / Context

Rebuild the application and reconnect its parts

The Paylogiq Gateway is a payment system consisting of over 150 modules. The application needed to be rebuilt, with missing and outdated modules repaired and communication between components restored through gRPC and Kafka.

02 / My role

Technical leadership and hands-on Java engineering

I worked as Team Lead, Principal Java Engineer and System Architect. My work covered rebuilding the gateway, resolving integration issues, and implementing a new bank integration.

03 / The work

From bank connectivity to a working application setup

  • Built a bank gateway integration as the starting point for the work.
  • Set up Docker Compose with Tomcat and OpenLiberty.
  • Rebuilt the application and addressed missing and outdated modules.
  • Resolved integration issues and communication between modules using gRPC and Kafka.

04 / Outcome

A rebuilt gateway with a new bank integration

The work revived the Paylogiq Gateway and successfully implemented a new bank’s integration. The technical scope combined Java 11 and Maven with Docker Compose, gRPC, Kafka, MySQL, and a React frontend. AWS services included EC2, CloudFront, and Route 53.
